Welcome to My Piano Studio
I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in music at the UFS with piano as my main instrument. After that I went on to obtain my H.E.D. at the University of Pretoria.
I feel passionate about children and music and combining the two has placed me in my dream job for more than 20 years. Teaching Kindermusik full time for 16 years, was absolutely amazing and taught me a lot about pre-schoolers and how they relate to music. About 3 years ago, I decided it was time to fly solo and I wrote my own preschool program, Musik@Renata, that I teach at two schools as part of their curriculum.
For the past 8 years, I have taught piano at a Music Academy, but at the end of 2018, I decided it was time to make my dream of owning my own private piano studio, a reality.
My mission is to bring an enjoyable and holistic approach to my studio. I want to develop all areas of musicality in a fun and interactive way. Playing the piano is so much more than just sitting in front of the piano – it involves listening, artistry, creativity, appreciation for different styles, technique, musical literacy, composing and much more.
Because I have also had Orff training, I love bringing Orff instruments into the class and I believe in whole body learning, especially with younger students who should not be required to sit at the piano for 30 minutes straight! Involving all the senses in the learning process, is something I feel strongly about.
It would be my privilege to be part of you/your child’s musical journey.
