Pre-School Music and Movement Program
This is a music and movement program specifically designed for the school environment for ages 2-6 years. During the weekly 30-minute lessons, we focus on developing the whole child through music. These areas of development include fine- and gross-motor development, listening skills, rhythm development, concentration and co-ordination and pre-reading notation skills. We use Orff instruments as well as glockenspiels and the keyboard. These classes are all about having fun while learning through play!

Pre-School Piano Lessons
Preschool piano lessons are for children from 4 years old. Having fun during preschool piano lessons is a very important factor! I teach piano through reading music, but also away from the piano; learning by rote, playing lots of games, doing improvisations, listening and even playing Orff instruments to practise our rhythm skills. For the first few lessons we will not use books, but rather focus on getting to know the structure of the piano, correct position in front of the piano and learning basic musical knowledge. After that we will jump straight into the most appropriate piano method books for the child. I love to create an environment where the child has so much enjoyment that they don’t even realise they are having an educational experience – providing a relaxed and fun-filled environment for optimal learning.
I believe that piano lessons should not be a “one size fits all” situation. When a child starts with piano lessons, we will have “no book beginner” lessons for a while so that I can learn more about the child and the most appropriate teaching style and genre for that child. I want to instill a lifelong love for music in the child so that making music will always be part of their lives. Creating a stress free, relaxing and fun-filled environment is something very close to my heart. We work on reading music, but also playing super fun games away from the piano. Improvisation, theory and developing aural skills are all part of the educational learning that will take place during the lessons.
